Survivability & Vulnerability Engineering
Bionetics offers our clients extensive Survivability/Vulnerability (S/V) capabilities. With over two decades of service
to the
Navy
and U.S. Air Force, Bionetics has established a DoD-wide and international
reputation for S/V analysis and methodology development for Aircraft
Survivability (AS) and Munitions Effectiveness (ME) programs. We
have provided S/V services on multiple military aircraft and surface
vehicles.
Aircraft expertise includes antisubmarine aircraft; fighter and
attack aircraft; utility aircraft;
and attack, scout, transport, and heavy-lift helicopters; and UAVs. Surface targets studied
include tanks, armored personnel carriers, trucks, electronic vans,
tracked missile-launch
vehicles, ground-launched sites, guns, structures, bunkers, parked
aircraft, and personnel targets.
These air and surface vehicles have been evaluated against weapons
including controlled and uncontrolled fragments; non-explosive, high
explosive and incendiary projectiles; shaped charges; internal and external
blast; multiple-fragment effects; and lasers.

Bionetics is also a major contributor to the development and
ongoing improvement of the Computation of Vulnerability and Repair Time (COVART) vulnerability software programs currently
owned and operated by DoD.
